Conchas Fire Pictures

I was driving from Santa Fe to Albuquerque Wednesday afternoon and I was able to take these pictures of the fire that is close to destroying Los Alamos. As a bit of perspective, I am about 40 miles from where the fire is burning when I took these shots.

holy crap! That is very scary. I hope everyone in Los Alamos is okay. I remember a trip up there and the forest was so beautiful...

Wow. I wouldn't have guessed that you'd be able to see the smoke from so far away.

That is a LOT of smoke! Have you had any ash fall in any of the areas you've been? I went golfing down in Florida during fires down there and came back to find a nice layer of ash all over the car. The only thing I could think of was "I've been breathing this crap!"

yikes! Don't forget what they say... YOU can prevent forest fires. Or something like that. It's been a while since I've seen the Smokey the Bear campaign.

Yikes. That is some scary stuff. I know it's dry out there. Are wildfires like that a common occurence?
