Termini Imerese - A Nice Quiet B-List Town

Wednesday, we were halfway through our week being auto enabled. We'd done A-List Monreale. We'd done the official de-I Sandia Outfitters Easy Peasy Tour of 'Scenic' Medieval Villages (and lived to tell about it). So it was a nice, laid back B-List city, Termini Imerese. About an hour from Cefalú. Now even the most benign city in Europe can be the source of driving terror but getting in and out of Termini and finding parking was 'relatively' okay.

Termini Imerese is a port

On a clear day you can see Cefalú

What's the difference between an 'A' list and a 'B' list? A lot of times it is just a question of how it is perceived because when you go through many of the 'lesser' towns, you see the same old towns, historic architecture, views, etc. You simply are missing a few thousand of your fellow tourists.

Termini has its old buildings

It has its Old Town with Medieval streets (very good for your Sicilian Drivers Test - please imagine you driving and finding yourself in them.)

 It has Esposous Fotograficus!

Fotograficus shooting you as you drive up the dead end street

Rare shot including Fotograficus and Laundry

It has (surprise) a Duomo. And a pretty cool one at that (though it was not open so we couldn't rate the inside)

It has a cool, heroic statue guiding you to the Duomo

What?

"I said to the Duomo!"

 "Where?" "There"

Lunch - It was Wednesday and a lot of places were closed but as is so often the case in our visits to 'not the main attraction', we had a very nice meal.

Bruschetta with paste of truffles, cured ham and Grana cheese

Quite fine

And then a really good Porcini Mushroom Risotto. You don't associate risotto with southern Italy but this was very good.

After finishing Termini, we went off trying to find the Greek ruins of Himera, a famous city that first beat and then lost to the Carthaginians. An adventure in not being able to locate the place with numerous turnarounds including one on a very narrow hillside road.

B-list definitely sounds like right choice for tourist phobic uncles.
