2018 Eastern Mediterranean Trip - Athens, The Agora

As I noted in my text post a couple of days ago, the Agora, the central meeting place of the city during the ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine times, was destroyed and rebuilt so many times, it is amazing anyone could make sense of it.

Are we prepared to descend into history?
Our Photographic Commander-in-Chief is
Detail from the Tower of Winds in the Roman Agora

Used Church, only used on Sundays
How many ways can we look back at the Acropolis from the Agora?
A lot

The Temple of Hephaestus
(The best preserved Doric tenple in Greece. Dedicated to Hephaestus, god of the forge, the temple was one of the first of Pericles projects and was built in 449 by Iktinos, one of the architects of the Parthenon)

There is a single Byzantine Orthodox church dating from the 11th century in the Agora complex

And you know what that means
Orthodox Byzantine Art!

But we were not limited to that
There was a great Museum in a reconstructed building in the complex

There was some great, great pottery art work there
Unfortunately I was really flagging in my energies
I should have taken fifty pictures the detail and human form expression was so good
Um
Didn't really look at this until I was editing the pictures
Some sort of fertility symbolism?
Uncategorized stuff

A weary Wife Photographer Commander-in-Chief says it is time to quit

2018 Eastern Mediterranean Trip - Acropolis Photos

Let's get to the serious business of posting tons of pictures. These are from our Sunday visit to the Acropolis.

Photographic Commander-in-Chief Wife prepares to lead the assault on A-List site Acropolis
"Okay Major, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Private de-I
(I fill all roles below Photographic Commander-in-Chief)
Do we have a plant?"
"Ah, well done.
It is always important to have a way in and a way out."

"Now, prepare the shock troops to clear our way so all are pictures are clean shots."

"You're kidding me Major, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Private!
ANOTHER Theater?"
As the Acropolis is up on a hill it offers views of the city
The harbor near Pireaus
Down in the old part of the city

Our neighborhood is between that hill and the Acropolis
Views of places we were on our photo tour
The Olympic Stadium
The Temple of Zeus

And on to the Acropolis
An overview

"Hello, I am your blogger de-Intimdator to show you around lots of old stuff"
Voila
Old stuff
Not old stuff
Old stuff again

Like geologically type old stuff
Back to just old stuff

Attempts to use photographic workshop teachings with old stuff

We leave the Acropolis just as the hordes of tourists come, just a so many waves of barbarian invaders assaulted Greece in the past
