2019 Eurasia Adventure - Still Doing Time In Kalamata

In all reality we didn't have any choice about our timing as it coincided with available dates associated with grandchildren school vacations. And when the #2's couldn't make it, we lost a vehicle which meant we don't have enough space to go anywhere. So with it being May Day, the International Day of Labor (a big, big deal in any country with any history of Socialism of which a large part of Europe does), it was another day of everything being closed. To a certain degree, I have to say also that Wife and I are at that time in the trip where we are pretty tired and our bodies are having a tough time recuperating. So we just slept in late and then took a walk back along the waterfront for a few hours. Tomorrow and Friday we have a guide and driver taking us on some serious sightseeing.

Let's Beach It!

Why perspective matters
A couple of years ago in Florence, Italy a docent we were working with said that you should look at all sculpture from various angles and perspectives to understand what the artist is trying to portray
This sculpture is meant to honor the fishing workers
But looked at from 90 degrees difference
It looks like a body builder posing
 A study of 3.2

When I saw this place I wondered the heck a juicy spoon was
But I then realized the real innovation was the 'chill box'
Which is an insulated box to keep your frozen treat cold!
Cool huh
(oops bad pun)

I find signage so interesting
What do we have here?
Sweet Bakery Ice Cream?
Ice Cream Coffee?
Coffee Pasta?

And you have to love...LOVE a beer with the name of...
The marketing slogan possibilities are endless...
"Get a Fix"
"Once you've had a Fix, you'll be back again and again"
"A day is not complete without a Fix"

2019 Eurasia Adventure - Kalamata Wanderings

We have a day between Holidays. The 'never-ending Easter' is finally over. But on Wednesday will be May Day, International Day of Labor, so everything will be closed up again. The #3's had not done the 'Tour de Kalamata' yet, so we decided to walk up to where the castle, taking in the old town section along the way. Yet that was not the only thing that was never ending. We also have had the 'never ending 70th birthday' for wife.

Then it is off into Kalamata
We will head up one of the main drags, Fanos Street
We made our way to the castle
And found out it was closed on Tuesday
However just being in Kalamata made #3 and 3A breakout into Greek folk dancing
#3 and 3A joyously posing
3.1 and 3.2, not so much

It's a family affair
Mother and Daughter
The daughter worked so hard to help 3.2 make a choice only to be dissed for a popsicle

I made it up by buying both a donut and a great Greek coffee
Famous Greeks from Kalamata
