I think I mentioned this in an earlier post. Now that the bulk of my travel is for pleasure, the battles with the Magical Unicorn Pony God of Travel just don't have the same zing they did before. The thrill is gone. You have a 7 hour trip turn into a 14 our trip and its "Eh, I'll just cancel my tour in the morning and sleep late." Sorry horned, horsey one. Just can't get all worked up any more.
We transited from Bali to Kuala Lampur Malaysia yesterday. That meant the three your very developing world drive back to Densapar Bali, dealing with another Asian discount airline for baggage (but we have this figured out now and there really wasn't a problem). Denpasar airport because of all the tourist traffic is quite modern with all kinds of eating and shopping options. Unfortunately our inbound flight had a mechanical problem so instead of leaving at 2:15 PM we left and 5:15.
The flight itself was not big deal. But when we got to KL and tried to get cash, our debit card wouldn't work. This entailed running around the airport checking other ATM's to make sure it wasn't the specific bank, calling the bank in the US, trying it again, failing again, calling the US bank, determining it wasn't them but the ATM machine I tried, walking through the airport to another ATM with the bank rep still on the phone, trying it again and having success.
Then we took an Uber to our hotel which is super plush (thank you son-in-law 2B for the choice!). They offered us an upgrade to a view of the Petronas Towers which was like $15 a night which I took and was very glad we did. You will see when I finally get some pictures up.
Usual super fast Asian internet here so hopefully over the next couple of days I can get the pictures and videos caught up.
