Asia Mega Tour II - Finishing Kagoshima And On To Fukuoka

We were really bummed that we didn't get our picture taking day in Kagoshima on Sunday. So since we weren't going to catch a train to our next city, Fukuoka until early afternoon, we decided to get a late check out and see if we could spend the morning taking pictures.

At first it seemed as if our decision was going to backfire since it was still raining when we got up. I was still raining at 9:15 when we got out. But after 30 minutes the rain stopped and we got to do almost everything we had our list accomplish to see in the center part of town. We had enough tie to grab a bit of rest before we had to check out. We still had time to kill so we had lunch at a very good ramen place in the train station.

We are getting the Japan Rails system down pretty good so no problems getting to our next city, Fukuoka (pronounced Foo Koo Oh Ka). We are staying at an AirBnb apartment here so it is always a bit of an exercise to find the apartment. Google Maps worked good however. The biggest problem was getting out of the train station (which is huge) and going in the right direction. The whole navigating and getting to the apartment wouldn't have been so bad except I'm having big problem with my backpack. It's shoulder straps are poorly designed and the slide off my shoulders in the best of circumstances but when it is really full AND I am wearing a slippery down filled jacket, a shoulder strap comes off every few minutes. Combine that with having to navigate with the phone GPS and you probably double the amount of time it takes to get to where we're going.

Other than that it wasn't that bad finding the place and getting in. As with all these rentals there are little surprises about what they do and do not have. We took a nap and then went out and had dinner. We are acclimating to the Japanese style of ordering a whole bunch of items as part of a mean.

Tomorrow we have a long (7 hour) guided tour with a photographer so that should be pretty cool.

your trip this time is terrifyingly organized. I seriously feel like I'm reading some sort of tour itinerary.

I'm glad you got some photography time in.

No matter how many times I do it, that confused trip between public transportation and an AirBnB always make me a little nervous. The worst is when you arrive at night and you're stumbling around in the dark.
