Asia Mega Tour II - Kyoto Day Two

Today we went to two of the major areas for visitors out side of the main city - the Fushimi-Inari Shrine and the Arashiyama area which has a number of attractions.

I would first, however, like to take time to respond to a recent comment. It is so sad that the level of civility of discourse in Washington DC has descended into 'snarky' comments. So for those that would think that Wife and I are NOT limiting what we are doing, here is a list of all the things in Kyoto we will not be doing:
  •  The Ysaka Shrin
  • The Heian Jingu Shrine
  • The Shimogamo Shrine
  • The Kitan Tenmangu Shrine
  • The Kamigamo Xhrine
  • The Kinkakuji Temple
  • The Ryoanji Templse
  • The Kyoto Imperial Palace
  • The Kyoto Railway Museum
  • The Kyoto International Manga Museum
  • The Kyoto Museum
  • Gion Corner
No today Wife and I were the picture of elder tourist restraint. I even took one of the things I thought we could do out of the schedule. The two areas we went to were on opposite ends of Kyoto Prefecture. Fortunately there is subway stop immediately out of our hotel and it is only one stop to Kyoto Station. Then using our JR rail pass we took on train to the Fushimi-Inari area did our touring their, took the train back to Kyoto Station, picked up another train that took us to Saga-Arishiyama for the rest of our tour.

Lunch today was variety of food on a stick (mostly grilled yakatori) and was a 50-50 mix with winners of some great fried chicken, corn on the cob, and a hot dog, and losers of a steak pieces that were so chewy as to be inedible (and with no flavor) and shrimp/scallops that exceedingly fishy flavored.

Even though we ran around a lot and saw a bunch we were stil back at the hotel by 4 PM and could take a nice nap before we started to work on pictures. it was supposed to rain today but instead was very nice. The temperature has been in the upper 50's so if it is not windy or rainy, it is very pleasant.

Should have time tonight to work on the pictures and get some up.

I was trying to recall what we saw in Kyoto but seems I only took pictures and ate. Looking forward to seeing what you guys saw!

I'll admit that the inclusions of naps in your itinerary is a good sign.

I'm a bit ashamed; the level of discourse emanating from DC is normally so much more refined.
