Cambodia - The Floating Village

One of our afternoon trips was a boat ride to see a functioning floating village of Kampung Phuk on the Tonie Sap lake. The Tonie Sap is the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia.  It is very unusual in that it is fed by the Tonie Sab and Mekong Rivers.  During the rainy season water flows upstream from the mouths of these rivers causing the lake to rise.  Then in the dry season the flow is normal down to the sea. The villate of Kampung Phuk is another example of how people really live.

Pushing away from the docking area.
When I say docking area, I mean boats that are lining the stream bank

Part way down was an area where local fishermen who work the lake bring their catch for processing

This is very definitely not a cruise ship

Coming to the outskirts of town looking at the school

Entering the main part of town (population 1,500)
