Asia Mega Tour 2026 - Day Sixteen - Photoshoot Marathon Update

145

That was the number of pictures I took in the 5 or so hours that we were out in Phuket today.

Maybe it was pent up demand from all the days stuck in Medan not going out on our own or the going to and recovery from the medical tourism trip to Bangkok but once we were out and about on Friday, it was if both Wife and I were caged deadly predators unleashed. We were out and taking pictures at a ferocious rate...even if the conditions of heat and light combined with subject matter often were far from the best for photo shooting. We were going to shoot and nothing was going to stop us.

I did the requisite research on where would be good places to go. And I wanted us to be somewhat limited on the time we were out. However, as I've observed over the years, the tourist guide industry does not take either kindly or lightly to their clients being independent in their their desires. They have their way of doing things. You will work to modify or alter the packages you've seen offered (and don't want). You can be very specific in your requests. But ultimately, you are going to get funneled into something that is pretty much like the package that was offered in the first place.

As I was organizing things pretty late in the game, I went with the flow. This meant we started much earlier in the day than what we wanted. This resulted in not optimal photo shooting light and being out in the heat more than we wanted.

It didn't matter. We were filled with photo shoot lust and ripped apart each location with cold hearted efficiency. Our itinerary took us to two prominent lookout points, a massive statue, two religious sites, and the main city's old town. To deal with the massive number of photos, I will be making separate posts for each segment.
