Euro 2012 - England/Spain Part 7 - A Small Town in Dorset

No big driving today.  I got up early and walked down from our cottage to the beach.  It is fairly cool with sporadic rain and we are at the beyond the season so the beach was deserted.  Chesel Beach is a geological phenomenon.  It stretches for tens of miles and has a steady gradation from east to west with the stones of the beach being the same size at anyone point but gradually getting larger (or smaller) depending on the direction you go.  There is no explanation for why this is.

And to the cottage

Everyone was still sleeping when I got back but soon got up.  We had a leisurely breakfast.  Then 3A took us to a market town not far away, Bridport.

This is the kind of town Bridport is - always having these tragic doughnut machine accidents.

At our cottage there was a piece that was about a hat festival that had taken place in Bridport just a couple of weeks ago.  A hat shop in town sponsored it.  Up until now every place I’d looked for hats had then as a sidelight.  But this was a hat specialty shop with and extensive selection.  They had exactly what I was looking for!
Posing in front of T. Snook with my new collapsible hat.  de-I personally endorses T. Snook for your hatting needs.

#3 also was dying to get her hair cut.  We don’t have Internet at the cottage so I needed to check in for email as well.  We wandered about town and ended up having a late lunch at a restaurant where we were the last guests which made for a lovely quiet meal with our allowing 3.1 to just wander about.

The food wasn't much but the beer and cider were!

"What do you think Munchkin, think Grandpa's going to get blasted again at lunch?"

We picked up a couple more food items and then drove to another seaside town Lyme Regis.  Unfortunately the rain and wind had picked up and it was just too nasty to get out other than a brief run out to say we went out.
"It's not cold you American wimps. It's bracing!"

"Oh no.  Am I going to inherit those British attitudes when I grow up?"

We came back to the cottage for a relaxed evening letting 3.1 just run around and play, catching up on our writing and picture editing and rest.

The beach looks so desolate and cold. What a strange phenomenon about the stones.

The hat looks good!
