Hard to believe that we've almost finished 2/3rds of our time in Alanya. Things are getting so much more comfortable. Today we took another step in building our ability to be here. And by here, I don't just mean Alanya, I mean in any reasonably sized community in Türkiye. We used Uber/Taxi to get to a relatively far away place and then back. Spoiler alert - no problems.
I wanted to go back to the Fortress on top of the fortified city. I wrote earlier about the history of the fortified city. But, there was an audio guide to the fortress and I wanted to take advantage of that. As I said above, we got to the fortress entrance with a minimum of problem. We were there around 9:20 and there was no one else inside yet. So we had the place to ourselves. I made use of an audio guide that you get via an app. Sadly, I lost internet connection about a third of the way through. But I got the most important information. Then we headed down through the old part of the upper town toward a southern bastion and the cable car station to get us down. The cable car doesn't start until 9:30am. Most people don't make it all the way to the fortress because it is a pretty good hike up from the cable car. We made a good decision to go the other way. But man, there were a ton of people from about 10:30am on as we made our way to the station.
Down we went. We had a drink to cool off and rest. Called and Uber and had no problems getting home. A very successful outing.
