Today the intrepid away mission continued its explorations around the environs of Malmo, the area in Sweden called Skane (or we used to be Danish but the Swedish took us and then they still think we aren't Swedish). We headed south to a peninsula called Falsterbo and its port town of Skanor.
Our first objective was the Falsterbo Lighthouse. This site hosted lighthouses starting in the 13th century. It was constantly rebuilt and the lighting technology changed until it was finally taken out of service in 1990. It is now a historic monument and it is a center for the nature conservation area surrounding it.
This is an area known for bird migrations and it attracts serious bird watchers
There is a beach that is strictly reserved for seals
Unfortunately, no one told that to the birds
As we moved over to Skanor, things became more populated. It is a tourist area but even now on the first of September, it is clearly "no longer the season".
