Our travel ordeals continue. Clearly the Magical Unicorn Pony God of Travel has a special acolyte deity in training who specializes in Ghana. Our plans for yesterday were to fly from the coastal city of Takoradi to the old Ashanti Ghana Kingdom capital of Kumasi via a plane change in Accra. Takoradi iairport is tiny and located within an Air Force base. Evidently few if any do a connection on Africa World Airlines because the person doing our ticket initially had us only going to Accra and not on to Kumasi. They finally told us we had to exit in Accra and get some kind of stamp on our boarding pass to go to the next flight.
The flight to Accra was smooth. The domestic terminal in Accra airport is old and there is no way to get from arrivals to departures without going outside and climbing the roadway ramp. It was pretty quiet inside. We go to the ticket counter where they tell us, "Your flight has been canceled. Go over there to rebook." We know where 'there' is as that was what we had to do when we missed the outgoing flight. There was a big group with just two people working the rebookings. We were told our first available option out was the next day in the afternoon.
Wife and I agonized over what to do. We talked with our local team. There was consideration of getting a car and driving up. Or taking an executive bus. But the team discouraged us from his as it was already late in the afternoon and the road is rough. We ultimately decided to drive but wait until the next day (today). That meant loosing a night with our rental in Kumasi and getting another hotel in Accra.
The drive takes five hours and it is a rough five hours. We're exhausted when we arrive. Thankfully, our local contact was here waiting for us and the apartment we are renting is nice.
We're supposed to fly back on Saturday and have already paid for it. Do we take a chance with AWA again? Or do we pay a lot more and subject ourselves to the long, hard drive?

Ugh, that sounds really exhausting. There are no good answers.
