It may be hard to believe from the never ending flood of posts and pictures concerning China, but we are now in our third full day in Thailand. And I still have another three posts to go to finish up China. Be that as it may, Wife and I are truly hunkering down and resting. The first day, Monday, we did literally nothing other than go get some lunch (more on this later).
We are using the pool frequently. It is proving to be a great place for Wife and I to talk about all the various things awaiting us when we return to the U.S.

Our Airbnb is in a nice quiet area just off the main road. We don't hear much noise especially at night when all the partying takes place. Like most short-term rentals, it's not perfect but it is 80% of what we need to chill for two weeks.
We have found out pretty quickly nothing is done in the middle of the day. It is incredibly hot. We've had a hard time finding anything open for lunch at even 2pm. I started to take walks early in the morning (around 6:30am) to get a handle on what the town is. The first day, Tuesday, took me down to the beach. The whole walk down there is pretty much deserted. Things won't open to much later.

In 2017, when we last visited Thailand, we were desperate for something to drink and got this at a 7-11
Turns out its pretty popular and sold everywhere.
On Food
Our first two days here were terribly disappointing. With all my walking about all I can find are tourist combination places with Indian, Thai, and Italian. It's crazy. The menus are all the same. However, this morning, Wednesday, on my walk I went the opposite direction, away from the water. I immediately ran into a section of places serving locals. They were humming with people with families, and workers coming to grab food for breakfast. I hadn't intended to buy anything but ended up doing so.
Quail eggs fried in a small pan with indentations. Flavor them with black pepper and fish sauce.
In addition, I got fried bananas, and fried chicken. My research had said that fried chicken in the morning from street vendors is the quintessential Thai street breakfast.
These are coconut batter little pancakes (sort of) except they are soft and like custard on the inside.

beautiful beaches - seems like the land vegetables forgot but perhaps you just need to hunt further for those
