Mostly Spain 2023 - Rainy Days In El Campello

According to Wife's pre-trip reseach, May in the Alicante region averages 2 days of rain. By our estimate, you can be safe coming here for another four years and not have worry about rain because we have taken on those rain obligations for you. Most of the 'rainy' days have been spurts of rain here and there. Yesterday, however, it was a downpour in the early morning and it was a steady rain all through the day. It stopped in the early evening but it has picked up again this morning thought it is scheduled to stop by midday.

As a result, we were not feeling any great desire to get out and do anything. And this was okay. We'd relaxed on Sunday, did our Skype calls with children, I cooked. I put in the Labels on this post 'Daily Life'. Wife and I have both said that we are committed to slowing down, to not feeling we have to go like crazy people each time we travel. Further, we are specifically on a mission to find a place that we are comfortable spending longer times in. This means 'living there' as opposed to touring their. We both have plenty to do to keep ourselves occupied. So we enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance of the place we are at and most did our own thing.

We wanted to eat out and particularly were in the mood for pizza. Unfortunately we waited a bit too long until 4:30pm and the place we were aiming for in town stopped making lunch at 4:00.  So we headed down to the waterfront. EVERYTHING (just about) was closed. The rain had been so hard that a lot of beach access had been washed out (see pictures below). But we found one place open and it was Italian and had pizza. The places on the waterfront don't have very good rating but I have say the pizza at this place was pretty darn good. Then we went back into town to visit with the real estate agent again. But they were closed because of the inclement weather. A lot of the town had just shut down, we think because there was a lot of flooding on the roads.

We are going head out later this morning when hopefully the rain will be ending. We are going to catch the tram into Alicante and go to a museum.

At the peak of the rain, watching the water pour by us an into the sea was an impressive experience

The whole darkness of the weather and the scene called for some black and white photos
