Today was a transfer day. We are moving another turn around the island to the North Coast and the historic Norman influenced town of Cefalú.
Transfer days are a bit of a pain. First you have to pack up from where you've been. Check out times are on the early side. But then the check-in times where you are going are later. If you have a long way travel between locations, that works to your benefit. If you don't, it works against you. As you have all your belongings in your vehicle, it is not necessarily comfortable to go and do touring. It is hard to get the timing right. Often we find ourselves in some mall, supermarket or similar just killing time.
The other issue with transfer days is the physical effort involved moving all the belongings. When traveling from rental property to rental property you tend to accumulate food and drink (as you are preparing many of your own meals), laundry cleaning product, paper products, water (if in an area where you are advised to not drink the tap water). This tends to expands the longer you are traveling causing the number of bags you are moving to increase. Now add stairs. If you add a lot of stairs, this can be a lot of additional work.
There is also finding the new place, dealing with the inevitable 'crazy ass' driving experience to finding the new place. All in all, not the thing I enjoy most about our traveling. (NOTE: Please, Please, don't suggest that I could just take a cruise and it would all be taken care of for me. Wife and I Don't want it all taken care of for us. Yes there are negatives we deal with. But we want the challenge. We want to be finding the ways to overcome the issues. That is a lot of what makes travel such a positive influence on us mentally, emotionally and physically.)
We have a different experience going on here in Cefalú. We are in an apartment in town. We wanted to try the experience of being in a place where we can do a lot of walking rather than driving. The apartment is nice. It has a parking place (YAY), that is so tight and hard to get to that we might as well be in the death defying roads of the hills (BOO). The apartment itself is really well appointed.
Tomorrow after some rest, I will do a video tour of the place and will report more on our environment for the next week.

sorry to hear the physical effort is a drag, but excited to hear how you like being city slickers
I can see how you all thrive in overcoming the challenges. I don't enjoy it, which of why I have a "one location per vacation" rule as much as possible.
