We were back in Siracusa to visit their highly rated Greek/Roman antiquities park. Two of the primary attractions are the Greek Theater and the Roman Amphitheater. This was another of those days when the sheer amount of travel and things visited by Wife and I came back to haunt us. While this particular site, was highly touted, we found it falling quite short of the mark. And this gets me feeling that I am sounded so jaded. But when you've seen as many Greek and Roman ruins as we have, you develop your own internal standards for what's truly impressive and what's not
The general state of the ruins aside, we were also a bit annoyed that the signage of how to navigate the park was poor so we ended up taking some very long walks up and down steep hills that could have easily been avoided. There was additionally quite a bit of over-hype about certain areas that turned out just to be stone quarries.
Earlier in the day, we had some time to kill as #3 had business phone calls. The grandchildren and I decided to do a 'photo shoot'. They took turns being the 'model' while the other two of us did the shooting. That was a lot of fun and a good time being together.

What do you photograph when you think you are going to an ancient tomb but end up in a quarry?
Trees
After wandering all about because there was a total lack of signage we found what was supposed to be this great Roman Amphitheater.
Um?
Oops...needed to go a bit further
Okay that's a bit better. We then stopped for the kids gelato where I decided to take some cactus pictures
Next up was finding the Greek Theater which was THE SITE to see. It looked like we were going to have to do another long walk down and up hill. But no, there was actually a direct route right after the entrance.
Finally, here is the finalists of the 3.1/3.2 photo shoot pictures. But be sure to scroll down to the bottom for something special.
Now I know you thought I'd just forgotten all about this...But NO!
SIGNS OF THE WORLD!

And ifi guess the kids weren't disappointed by the ruins because they were never excited to begin with...
