More of Tahoe

I have one scadzillion pictures of our vacation but most of them still reside on my phone.  We're on our way back, spending the night on the outskirts of Las Vegas.

Tuesday was our last day with the #1s.  #1 and 1A and to do a webinar for their business so Wife and I took 1.1 and 1.2 to a private beach with a playground that came with the rental.  de-I has no problem getting down to the kids level and we must have played for an hour with me chasing the two of them all over the climbing/sliding apparatus.  Then we drove down to the south of the lake where we took a cruise on on one of the paddle boat steamers that play the waters.  It was a relax afternoon.  After the boat ride, the #1s headed back home.  Wife and I went back for a quiet night last night at the rental.

On Wednesday, we checked out and headed to a resort outside of Truckee where we met up with friends Steve and Lady Di.  We went into the town of Truckee on Wednesday and did a bit of window shopping and went to a wine bar for a a tasting.  But mostly we just hung around talked and caught up.

We both had to get going early this morning.  I took advantage of the early start to spend the first leg of this drive as a photo-op drive.  We went along the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada and saw some of the spectacular scenery that makes this area famous.  Then we cut across Death Valley back into Nevada.  We had a bit of minor excitement on this part as we were running low on gas and had to alter our course to get back to civilization and fill up.  It is quite a descent (from around 7000 feet down to Sea Level back up to around 4000 feet, down again to Sea Level and then back up again in only around 50 miles with some very substantial grades and with the temperature at 113 degrees.  We've been driving Wife's Acura and it was having some issues dealing with the heat so I had to do some nursing of our driving to preserve both the engine for overheating and keep the brakes functioning.  But it all turned out fine.

Here are a few of the pictures that I have been able to get loaded.
