Eldership Sweden Mission - First Day Of Serious Shooting

After our first day's frigidity of 40 degrees, rain, and wind, we basked in the bliss of a balmy 50 degrees, mostly overcast leading to partly cloudy later in the day. So off to begin the work of serious touring. First task, go to the tourist information office in the center of the city. We are staying quite a bit outside of the city center. We chose Gothenburg, in part, because it had a good public transportation system centered on an extensive tram system.

We were quite proud of our figuring out how to upload the Vastrafik To Go App, linking our U.S. credit cards, purchasing our go to and return tickets (separately during the day) via our phones, figuring out what tram to catch, where, AND...MOST IMPORTANT...doing things correctly so we were not gigged by the Tram Police forcing us to be banned from yet another country (as Wife is from Austria for failing to pay her Tram Ticket Violation Fine in Graz). In fact, on our very first ride, the Tram Police were checking tickets and we came through with a passing grade.

The Tourist Information Office is right next to a tram stop. We are far, far from the official tourist season in Gothenburg so there was no line to speak of in the office and we got our bearings with maps and suggestions right away. We headed out.

Immediately outside the Tourist Office

And a statue of someone who I'm sure is very famous and killed a lot of people

I brag a lot about Wife's prowess in so many things. But she is so good at photography she can even get the inanimate to react

The girl statue was actually facing forward before Wife started interacting with her!

Gothenburg has a very nice Central Market. Very much in the genre of more of an eatery, but with a lot of interesting and photo worthy food shops. We were just moving through things getting a lay of the land. But I think I would like to come back and see do a more focused shoot here.

 Construction Material

Street Art - Gothenburg is noted for it and I suspect we will be seeing shooting much more

 Street Cleaning Art

 Gothenburg Cathedral

The original was built in the mid-17th century. It burnt down twice, once in the mid 19th century, and again in the early 19th century. The current building was completed in the mid-19th century and is one of the first major cathedrals to have central heating.

The Cathedral is also the site where Tram ticket violators are forced to do penance

 Not the Cathedral

Not Old

 Gustavus Adolphus

Renowned King and General of Sweden during the 30 years war. He also killed a lot of people but in a manner of military innovation combined with enlightened rule (at least by the standards of the time) that history rates him highly. Thus worthy of more than one photo.

And who would believe, Gothenburg, Sweden, A MECCA OF ARCHITECTURAL SCAFFOLDING!

Contemplating the GLORY that is Gothenburg Architectural Scaffolding

Gothenburg has so many Kebab places it has ones that allow city residents only

Choosing the right tram ticket and then passing your transit police audit is most impressive!
